Could a diet high in antioxidant foods answer many of the following questions? Why are so many of our loved ones getting sick? Why are hospitals overflowing with patients? Why are so many of our elderly citizens dying of illnesses? How many people do you know that have died simply because they had just lived long enough? Think about it, most people leave this world because their bodies have been attacked by some form of disease or illness. . . cancer, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and obesity are among some of the top problems.

The human body is designed to be nourished. In order to properly nourish our bodies, we must be fed nutrient rich antioxidant FOODS. Webster defines food as, “anything that is taken in by a plant or animal to keep up its life and growth.” An important fact to remember is that food DOES NOT consist of anything that will fit into our mouths. Let’s take a look at an example of how some of us try to fuel our bodies:

(Diet I)
Breakfast:
Lunch:
Snack:
Dinner:

Coffee and a doughnut
Hamburger on white bread, french fries, and a cola
Candybar
Fried chicken, macaroni and Cheese, canned peas, sweet tea

Diet I is a good example of
WHY WE ARE SICK AND DYING. After eating this type of diet, at the end of the day your body is void of essential vitamins and minerals.  The body is tired, rundown and susceptible to disease.  In order to maintain healthy vibrant bodies that will carry us into old age, we need to fuel our bodies with nutrition that is rich in antioxidant foods. Nutritious foods are foods that are loaded with vitamins, minerals, omega 3, protein and enzymes.

Let’s look at a better alternative to diet I:
(Diet II)

Breakfast:
Snack:
Lunch:
Snack:
Dinner:

Oatmeal with blueberries, 2 eggs (or whites)
Yogurt and an apple
Garden Salad w/vinegar and olive oil
Fruit – melon
Baked or grilled chicken, broccoli (steamed), sweet potato

Diet II is an example of a menu that will help to eliminate the illnesses/diseases previously listed. Why? This sample menu contains the building blocks needed to sustain life. Each meal consists of foods that are rich in vitamins, minerals, proteins and antioxidants.  In fact, researchers have found that people who eat more vegetables, grains and fruits have a lower risk of cancer than people who don't eat as much of these plantsBecause of the nutrient poor soil, over processed foods, etc. our fruits and vegetable aren't as nutritious as they once were.  So it is essential that we supplement our diets inorder to maximize our intake of nutrients.
